After two years of construction the De Waal Drive outbound has opened this morning.
The opening of the De Waal Drive preselection lane is the first stage in the completion of the Hospital Bend Project, which will be officially opened on 22 April 2010.
City’s spokesperson Henry du Plessis after the new bridge is opened; the contractors will close one lane of the old De Waal
Drive Bridge to make some changes to the lane pattern.
“If everything goes according to plan, the city-bound preselection lane from Rhodes Drive will be opened to traffic on the evening of Thursday 15 April 2010.
“The new links to and from Groote Schuur Hospital will be opened at the same time,” said du Plessis.
All new routes and links will be clearly signposted and the City urges motorists to pay attention to these signs and to maintain caution around these new routes
