Metrorail workers at the Maitland train station are busy repairing and clearing damages at the scene after a train was set alight at the station this morning.
The train has been removed and technicians are repairing damaged electrical cables.
Two railway tracks are affected and trains are diverted to other tracks. Commuters are waiting at the station as train timetable is affected in the area.
Metrorail officials on the scene refused to comment.
Last week a number of coaches were set alight across the city amid strike action by Metrorail workers in the province.
