Three SAPS members arrested for house robbery

Three police officers have been arrested on charges of armed robbery, kidnapping and attempted murder.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Siyabulela Vukubi says the men are stationed at the Gugulethu and Athlone police stations respectively.

“The police members were arrested after the allegations that they went to a house in Brooklyn, Milnerton where they identified themselves to the complainant as member’s police organised unit.

“The police who were all dressed in police uniform searched the house in the presence of the complainant saying they are looking for drugs that are sold from the house,” said Vukubi.

Vukubi added that during the search they allegedly took a bag with an unknown amount of cash.

“They also ordered the complainant to the bedroom ordering him to open the safe, after he refused to do so they allegedly assaulted him.

“Then they took him to Khayelitsha to a place that he is not familiar with, there are four members who are allegedly involved in this crime of which three was arrested and the one is still at large,” said Vukubi.
