President Jacob Zuma made the announcement that the relationship between South Africa and Botswana has been upgraded to a Bi-National Commission.

President Zuma announced this during Botswana President Seretse Khama’s state visit.

This means that annual meetings, alternating between Pretoria and Gabarone, will be managed by the two heads of state.

Zuma says his discussions with President Khama focused mainly on the energy and water needs of the two countries.

Special mention was made of the excellent co-operation on the establishment of Trans-frontier Parks.
