Savannah Tyler Mersin found dead

The body found on Muizenberg beach on Friday has been positively identified as that of Savannah Tyler Mersin.
Mersin the eight-year-old girl from Lavender Hill disappeared while walking home from school last week.

A passerby found her body in a shallow grave near a sand dune.
Cape Town police confirmed today that a family member made the identification earlier today.

Police spokesperson November Filander said that Savannah's mother and her boyfriend were initially taken in for questioning but were later released.
