The Western Cape Education Department yesterday applied for a court interdict against a group of protesters that disrupted teaching at a Grabouw School.

Learners and parents at the Umyezo Wama Apile Combined School have been protesting about overcrowding since last week Monday.

The protest is led by the Elgin Grabouw Civic Association.

Education officials said that the department is in the process of obtaining land to build a bigger school.

The department had received reports of teacher intimidation.

MEC Donald Grant added that the intimidation cannot be allowed to continue.
