R2K condemns secret process of appointing the General of Intelligence

The Right 2 Know has condemned the secret process of appointing the next Inspector General of Intelligence without public consultations. 

R2K National Organiser Siviwe Mdoda said they have written to the presiding officer of Parlaiment requesting on an open process and for a proper timeline for the appointment process.

Mdoda added that this process should be an open process, whereby there is enough time the state has given for the public to make an input. But the way the state has conducted its self so far.

“It has shown that, it’s committed to operating in secrecy and to undermine the values of our Constitution, particularly Section 69   where public participation is guaranteed in the Constitution.” Mdoda added
