The Western Cape African National Congress’s provincial caucus has conducted an oversight visit today to listen to Maphelo and Khunkqu informal settlement communities in Khayelitsha.

ANC’s Provincial Legislature’s Chief Whip, Pierre Uys says, these areas in ward 87 suffer due to inadequate infrastructure.

Uys said they were looking at the living conditions of the rural settlement in khayalitsha.

Uys mentioned that the living conditions were terrible and that he couldn’t understand how Premier Helen Zille and Mayor Patricia de Lille could put the blame on the police and crime situation there.

“There’s no access, there’s no water, there’s no sanitation and the conditions are really appaling” Uys reported
