Two men will soon appear in the Stellenbosch Magistrates' court for attempted murder, following a shooting incident on Sunday evening. Police confirmed that the incident occurred in North-end Street in Cloetesville at about 18:30, in which an adult male, a four-year-old girl and a seven-year-old boy were shot and wounded.
‘’According to reports suspects driving in a silver
Volkswagen Polo opened fire on the adult male, hitting him in the leg. The four
year old victim sustained a gunshot wound to her neck, and the seven year old
boy sustained a gunshot wound to his arm. The victims were transported to a
medical facility for treatment,’’ said Sergeant Wesley Twigg, Western Cape
police spokesperson.
Police said they arrested the duo later the night.
‘’The Station Commander of Cloetesville SAPS instructed
police members to work around the clock to bring the perpetrators to book. The
members used informer networks to source information and obtained witness
statements in a bid to arrest the suspects,’’ said Twigg.
‘’The suspects aged
27 and 31 face charges for attempted murder and will appear in the Stellenbosch
Magistrates' court once they have been charged,’’ he added.
