Power cuts could harm fish exports

South Africa could lose its lucrative fish exporting contracts with the European Union if recent power cuts continue. I&J CEO Roy Gordon says there is concern that the un-coordinated power cuts at fish processing plants could lead to the EU reconsidering existing contracts. Gordon says his company, the largest supplier of fresh fish to the local market and a major exporter, lost over one million rands during last weeks outages. According to the Cape Times, the EU has not made any comment on the issue yet.
