Illegal drag racing kills father and son
An 11-year-old boy and his father have been killed and three people injured at an illegal drag racing event on Woodmead Road in Sandton in Johannesburg. Emergency workers say about 500 people gathered at the event and about 200 cars took part. One of the cars slammed into the crowd, killing the boy and his father on impact. Two spectators were injured. A mob then plucked a passenger out of the car and assaulted him. The driver tried to escape but was apprehended by the crowd. Police are investigating.
