Cape Town’s budget unanimously passed
All political parties in the Cape Town council have unanimously passed the city’s 18-billion rands budget for the next three years. The ANC decided to back DA mayor Helen Zille’s tabling of the budget as they sees it as in many ways their creation. The largest chunk of the budget will be spent on social services, infrastructure, transport and housing. A 125-million rands has been set aside for the 2010 Soccer World Cup. Zille said during her budget speech that she wanted to make Cape Town Africa’s leading city.
