Public Works Minister Stella Sigcau dies

Public Works Minister Stella Sigcau died in Durban last night. According to a source in the family, the minister died at the St Augustine Hospital following recurring heart problems.
Sigcau, who was a Xhosa princess, was appointed to the post of public enterprises minister in 1994, and then again in 1999, once led the ANC Women’s League in the Eastern Cape. At the time of her death, she was a member of the ANC National Executive Committee.
Sigcau’s family have not yet released details of her burial, they are expected to make a statement later today.
