Security strikers head back to the negotiation table

The SA Chamber of Business, or Sacob, has made an urgent appeal to the Department of Labour to help bring the strike by security guards to an end. Sacob chief Deidre Penfold says in a statement Sacob deplores the violence that has accompanied the strike and the hope has been expressed that the parties would find a way to resolve their differences peacefully. Penfold says the Department of Labour should contribute towards resolving the differences.

Meanwhile, Satawu has announced that the Commission for Conciliation Mediation and Arbitration has called the strikers and employers back to the negotiating table. Satawu spokesperson Ronnie Mamba says the meeting is scheduled for ten o’clock on Friday morning at the CCMA offices in Johannesburg. Satawu members have been on strike since the 23rd of last month.
