South African President, Thabo Mbeki, will attend a ceremony in Berlin on Friday where the logo of the 2010 soccer world cup will be launched. FIFA President, Sepp Blatter, will “pass the ball” to Mbeki at the event. Members of the local organising committee have accompanied Mbeki on his trip. While in Germany, Mbeki will also be holding discussions with German president, Hoerst Koehler and German chancellor, Angela Merkel. Key issues that will be discussed during their meeting, include the forthcoming German presidency of the European Union, as well as the G8 summit to be held in Russia later this month.
