DA calls for investigation into Jepperstown shooting

The Democratic Alliance says the Jeppestown police shooting should be investigated to restore confidence in the police camp. DA’s Safety and Security spokesperson, Roy Jankielson made a call to the Minister of Safety, Charles Nqakula to set up an independent investigating task team consisting of expects from civil society. Jonkielson added that an investigation should at look at whether ex-soldiers from other Africa countries are systematically perpetrating violent crimes in South Africa and who was responsible for ordering police officers into the Jeppestown situation. The DA’s call comes as amid with the meeting held between the national minister of Safety, Charles Nqakula, and high-ranking police officials to discuss the state of crime in the country following the recent spate of police killings and violent crimes.
