The Minister of Finance Trevor Manuel and Australian Treasurer Peter Costello held a media briefing today.
Costello’s visit to South Africa comes as Australia is the current chair of the G – 20 and South Africa is to take over the reins in 2007.
The G – 20 is a forum which promotes open and constructive discourse between the finance ministers and central bank governors from industrialised and emerging market economies.
The forum will discuss the priorities and work programme of the G – 20 Finance Ministers and the Central Bank Governors.
On his visit Costello will also visit Australian funded aid project, examine development changes facing the region and engage with donor and business communities.
