The event, from 10:30am to12:30pm and will be held at the Khayelitsha Wetlands Park.
The aim of the event is to highlight the importance of Arbour Week and the environmental benefits of planting and maintaining trees.
Arbour Week is celebrated nationally from the 1st – 7th September 2006 and the theme this year is “Plant a tree, Grow our future”
The event will bring together various roleplayers including key stakeholders in the biodiversity industry and political leaders. Several trees will be planted in the park by local political, community and NGO representatives.
A secondary theme is HIV/Aids awareness. A stone and cement HIV ribbon will be laid out by participants and this will form part of the landscaping of the park.
