The South African Organisation for Human Rights (SAPOHR) has been in inundated with complaints from prisoners who claim that former ANC chief whip Tony Yengeni is receiving special treatment.
Miles Bhudu the president of SAPOHR told Independent Online that the prisoners complained about visits from his wife, him having a double bed in his cell and being allowed to stay in the hospital cell as opposed to a normal cell.
Some prisoners have even threatened to go a hunger strike.
However, the head of Malmesbury Prison Sipho Nyambi slammed all claims of preferential treatment, but confirmed Yengeni staying in the hospital cell for safety reasons.
