A newborn baby has been found abandoned in a plastic bag in the Mfuleni area during rush hour this morning. A passerby found the child in the bag on the pavement between two dirt bins in Rembrandt Street, Forest Glade.
It appears as though the child is unharmed, but he is still undergoing medical examinations. Mfuleni police have opened a case of attempted murder, with a possible alternative charge of child abandonment.
Anyone with information that could assist the police trace the baby's parents, or could help with the investigation is asked to contact the Mfuleni police station on 904-1630, or call the investigating officer on 082-469-3320. Alternatively, contact crime-stop o n 08600-10111.
