District Six tenants fight to the end

The Districts six tenants are going to fight to stay in their homes. This comes after a Cape High Court judge ruled that the homes could be sold.
The cottages are between Aspeling Road, Nelson Road and Pontac Street. District Six Beneficiary and Redevelopment Trust chairman Anwar Nagia told the Cape Times yesterday that they would be blocking the sale that will be taking place.
He says that the people have been living there for years and that there will be a lot of resistance against this decision. He added that they would appeal to other communities as well as NGOs to assist them.
Tenant spokesperson Magdalene George said that an urgent meeting will take place, but still needs to talk to the tenants to be able to express their views on this matter.
