The Presidency’s director General Frank Chikane is said to have revealed that he knows who tried to poison him during the apartheid years.

Chikane is quoted as saying that he knows the chain of command to eliminate him, and that he knows the people and how they did it, when he was talking to Soweto church congregation.

He said that the people, who were involved, including those who were part of the command structure, are ready to meet with him to ask for forgiveness for trying to poison him.

This first has to be cleared by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).

The Cape Times reports that in a statement the presidency said that since Adriaan Vlok, former apartheid minister apologised to Chikane, information relating to the attempt to his life had been brought to his attention.

The report says that responsible officers of the apartheid security police are believed to have made submissions on details of the attempted assassination to the NPA, in terms of the guidelines to deal with post-Truth and Reconciliation Commission issues.
