The national Assembly’s Portfolio Committee on Home Affairs is in Cape Town to conduct public hearings to solicit the publics view on whether to or not to amend the Civil Union Bill and Films and Publications amendment bill that were put before Parliament of South Africa.
The committee says that the hearings were conducted successfully in all the eight provinces with the last provincial hearing to be held in Woodstock, Cape Town.
The public hearings on Civil Union Bill came as a result of a Constitutional Court ruling that by 1 December 2006, there must be a law that governs same sex marriages in the country.
The committee will combine all the views of the people of on 10 and 11 October. This will be followed by public hearings with stakeholders and all the members of the public on 16 and 17 of this month in Parliament.
The Committee then will deliberate and finalise the Bills on 18 and 19 October and vote on both Bills will take place on 20th of this month.

Your headline says that the hearings will take place in Woodstock.
Could you let us know where in Woodstock? I am a resident and would like to attend.
