The man accused of the rape of a seven-year-old girl in Eerste River over the weekend is will appear court this morning.
Police at the Blue Downs Magistrate Court are bracing themselves this morning, as hundreds of people are expected to demonstrate during the court appearance of the alleged child rapist.
Following a tip-off, the 28-year-old suspect was arrested on charges of rape and indecent assault, after the little girl was set alight. She was taken to hospital in critical condition.
Police spokesperson Captain Elliot Sinyangana says that the man was close to the family. He is thought to be a work colleague of the child’s father.
