  • Selfhelp Manenberg's hospitality project which offers training in the hospitality industry are looking for school drop-outs from Grade 10 - 12 for next years programme. Training takes place over four months and takes place at the Manenberg Silvertree Youth Centre. Call Patricia Adams at (021) 691 9109.

  • Konek will be hosting a cross-cultural Youth Lifeskills Camp for 100 disadvantaged children from Ottery and the Greater Grassy Park area from 6 to 9 December at False Bay Ecology Park Environmental Centre, Zeekoevlei. If you wish to sponsor or part-sponsor a child at R140, please call them on (021) 703 7942 or 073 1677 220.

  • Konek will be hosting a Christmas Party for 500 disadvantaged children in the Ottery Community on the 16th of December. Since they are still in dire need of Christmas gifts for these kids, they are appealing to companies and individuals who would be willing to make a needy child's Christmas dream become a reality by donating a toy or two to please call them on (021) 703 7942 or 073 1677 220.

  • The Oaks of Rightenous Foundation - based in Strandfontein - has started an after school programme for youth in the Bayview area. The free after care service is for young people aged from 11 to 18 years, and operates from Mondays to Thursday, from 3pm to 6pm, and 1pm to 4pm on Fridays.   • Cape Town Welfare needs volunteers for their 24-hour call cantre for their new Helpkids Hotline to help children in crisis which is based in Thornton Road, Athlone. Volunteers will be required to operate the Hotline switchboard, answer calls and if necessary, refer cases to Cape Town Child Welfare social workers. Full training will be provided.
