Exhaustion could spell bad break for Proteas

Rest and recuperation have already caused plenty of controversy with the national team. Former Protea fast bowler, Allan Donald says that the time has come to give especially the bowlers a break.

Donald is concerned that the bowlers could suffer from the burnout before they arrive in the Caribbean for the one day international.

Mickey Arthur, coach of the Proteas, said that Dale Steyn would almost certainly need to be left out this weekend to give his injury a proper chance to recover.

“We managed Dale very carefully to get him through the Newlands test, but there has been a bit of a reaction”, he said.

South Africa plays the first of three tests against Pakistan starting on Thursday at Supersport Park in Centurion.
