Three people were killed and scores others left homeless as fires devastated six areas in the Peninsula over the New Year weekend.
Two men and a woman died at NY 3(a), in Gugulethu following a blaze that went through six shacks.
Disaster Management spokesperson Wilfred Solomons said two fires broke out minutes within each other in Taiwan in Khayelitsha.
Six shacks were burnt down and over 20 people were displaced at Site C.
The Cape Times reports that 70 people were left homeless after 21 shacks burnt down close to the N2.
He said the causes of the fires were unknown.
