Cape Town Mayor Helen Zille will open the meeting of the final phase of the public hearings on the Grand Parade Revitalisation Project on Tuesday.
The public participation process started in January 2006 and has now reached the final phase.
The Draft Conceptual Spatial Development Framework will be out for public comment and must be finalised and submitted for the City Council’s approval before 28 February 2007.
The process saw all sectors working together to find solutions that would meet the demands of the public and the stakeholders.
Project Manager Lorryn McVitty, says the meeting is there to set up a stakeholders group to take the project forward from conceptual to implementation phase.
Stake holders such as traders, transport operators and heritage groups reached agreement on last years public meetings.
A Stakeholder’s Task Group will be set up to ensure participation from them and the public.
Members of the project team will explain and discuss their proposals with interested people in the open house.
The open house will start at 15:30 till 18:00 at the Bennie Hewett Hall, First floor at the College of Cape Town – City Campus, at the corner of Longmarket and Buitenkant Street, Cape Town.
It will be followed by the meeting at 18:00 till 20:00 on Tuesday, 6 February 2007.
