The National Civil Safety and Security Action (Nacissa) has approached government and the ruling party about crime in South Africa.
They want to know how the government and the ruling party can encourage a better life for people, as they say, crime is still out control, according to News24.
Nacissa chief executive Ockie van der Schyf says they are not against government’s strategies and rather there to assist.
Van der Schyf expressed these views at the launch of Naccissa. Their aim is to unite civil society against crime.
Crime statistics reveal that roughly 2.5 million people were victims of violent crime in the past three years. A study also shows that almost 90% of people would have been a victim of crime in South Africa.
Nacissa will try to have crime declared a national priority through active campaigns like HIV and Aids. He says they hope to raise funds for financial, legal and medical assistance for survivors of crime.
