A 36-year-old man stabbed and set a light a 26-year-old woman yesterday in Claremont’s Main Road on Tuesday evening.
The police’s Elliot Sinyangana says the man was arrested just after 7pm.
It is believed the two are married and that an argument sparked the drama. The man allegedly disappeared for a while, but returned with a bottleneck shortly afterwards.
The woman was stabbed first, doused with petrol and eventually set a light. The woman is in a serious condition in hospital.
The suspect will appear in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on Friday. He faces charges of attempted murder and malicious damage to property.
