ATM explosion a first in Cape Town

In the early hours of this morning police attended to an explosion scene at a Caltex Garage ATM in Mfuleni.

On arrival police discovered that the ATM machine was damaged and that some of the cash had been removed. Police spokesperson Captain Elliot Sinyangana says that five suspects fled the scene in an unknown vehicle.

Sinyangana adds that this is the first incident of an ATM bombing in the Western Cape. Police are investigating a case of theft.
