The deadline for objections to all property valuations in the City of Cape Town has been extended to the 30 April 2007.
Speaking at the draft budget briefing at the end of last month, Mayor Helen Zille said that about 30 000 objections had been lodged with the city. However, only half of these had detailed alternative property values.
“In view of recent consultations with various property owners and their representatives, the city has decided to extend the objection period for all properties, and not just for sectional title properties,” said Chris Gavor, the city’s Valuations Director.
“Bodies Corporate who have received valuation notices are requested to distribute them to the unit owners and also send an address list of all unit holders to the City of Cape Town so that the addresses can be updated on the billing system,” he said.
Owners who wish to object to their valuation must submit an objection form that can be collected at valuation offices in the Cape Town Civic Centre, Plumstead, Milnerton, Bellville and Somerset West. Alternatively, the form can be obtained on www.capetown.gov.za.
For further queries the public can call 086010 3089. Managing agents or bodies corporate can call 021 400-2866 or 021 400-3867 between 08:30 and 16:00 regarding sectional title notices.
