Chaos has erupted outside the courtroom where judgement in the murder case of six-month-old Jordan Leigh Norton is being delivered, as large crowds returned from lunch and demanded entry into the courtroom.
Bush Radio reporter Tarryn Le Chat witnessed people are pushing and shoving each other and police officials for a place to sit.
“There are police everywhere. They started a barrier to stop some of the people from coming through. It’s complete chaos at the moment, and they are trying to calm everyone down,” said Le Chat.
The judgement began this morning. A line trailed out of the Cape High Court as many anxiously gathered to enter. The Norton family, dressed in matching outfits of black and pink, entered the courtroom to cheering from the crowd.
The accused murderers and alleged mastermind Dina Rodrigues entered the courtroom in silence from the cells below .
Judge Basheer Waglay has thus far recapped the events leading up to Baby Jordan’s murder and reviewed the charges against the accused.
The judgement already had to be moved to a larger courtroom to accommodate the large crowd size. It is expected to last into the evening.
