Man critically injured after stone throwing incident

A stone throwing incident that occurred on Baden Powell Drive has left a US citizen in a critical condition in hospital.

The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon while the two occupants of a white bakkie were heading in the direction of Muizenberg towards Harare. According to police a stone was thrown at the bakkie damaging the windscreen on the left side.

“The male passenger sustained head injures and was taken to a nearby hospital. He is currently in a critical condition”, says police spokesperson Inspector Bernadine Steyn.

Steyn added that his sister, who was the driver of the vehicle, sustained no serious injures. Both are US citizens currently residing in Nairobi, Kenya and are on holiday in South Africa.

The suspects are still at large and a case of attempted murder is being investigated.
