Safety and Security Minister Charles Nqakula has looked to Italy to help in South Africa's fight against crime.
Last week Nqakula met with industrialists and experts in the area of technology used in the detection of crime.
Discussions during the meetings focused on technology, illegal immigration, preparations for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, organised crime and counter terrorism.
BuaNews reports that the minister also met the Italian Minister of the Interior Giuliano Amato who is responsible for public order and security maintenance.
The discussions during the meeting focused on: implementing public order and secure policing through identifying technical and operational guidelines as well as managing goals.
