The search will resume on Table Mountain on Friday for two men and a toddler who ran away from police yesterday afternoon.

Three detectives stuck in traffic yesterday on De Waal Drive, below Table Mountain said they spotted two suspicious-looking men in their late 20’s walking with a toddler, who looked about three-years-old.
Superintendent Billy Jones says that when the men were approached and asked about the child, the two men, dressed in dark clothing, immediately grabbed the child and ran away.

“This raised suspicion and the police in conjunction with the mountain rangers and other rescue emergency services launched a search in that area. The police helicopter was also dispatched last night to help with the search, but the search continued with no success,” says Jones.

Jones says that the police have not received a report of a missing or kidnapped child. He says local hospitals were also contacted, but they have confirmed that no child had been reported missing.

“But because it has raised a suspicion we have a launched a search and we will continue until the Operational Commander calls it off again.” says Jones.
