The SAS Wingfield naval unit will exercise its right to freedom of Goodwood with a military parade on Thursday, 7 June, where Cape Town Mayor, Helen Zille will deliver a key-note address.
Mayoral spokesperson Robert MacDonald says,” There will be a 200-strong parade at Goodwood Civic Centre to honour the naval unit based in Goodwood.”
The Freedom of Goodwood had been bestowed on SAS Wingfield by the former municipality in 1986.
There will be road closures; Voortrekker main road (left-hand lane in the direction of Parow), between Townsend and Church street, Merriman road and McDonald street around the Goodwood civic centre and all link-ups to Voortrekker Road.
MacDonald says that motorists should find alternative routes between the hours of 09:00 and 14:00 on the day of the parade.
