A couple will appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday after the two were arrested in Woodstock, Cape Town for car theft and the possession of drugs.
According to police the arrest follows after the Provincial Organised Crime Unit followed up information on a possible stolen vehicle and car parts at a house in Premier Road.
“On their arrival they came across vehicle parts belonging to a Nissan in the garage,” says police spokesperson Randall Stoffels.
“When police searched the house, police found a small quantity of drugs, two unlicensed firearms, two magazines with rounds of ammunition and an undisclosed amount of cash,” says Stoffels.
The discovered stolen vehicle was later established to have been reported stolen in Kraaifontein. The firearms will be sent for ballistic testing to determine if it has been used in any serious and violent crime.
The two face charges of theft of a motor vehicle, possession of illegal firearms and ammunition and possession of drugs.
