An elderly woman was stabbed to death at her house in Dorries Drive, Simon's Town in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
According to police, Gwen Wall (73) was found on her bedroom floor with stab wounds to the head.
“We searched the premises and surrounding area for clues and found a jewellery box, containing jewellery and toiletries under nearby bushes,” says police spokesperson Bernadine Steyn.
“A preliminary investigation indicated that entry to the house was gained through an open bathroom window,” says Steyn.
An Ocean View man believed to be in his 20’s was arrested shortly after the incident.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Simon's Town Magistrates Court on charges of murder and housebreaking and theft.
