A 14 year-old boy drowned at Monwabisi beach on the False Bay Coast on Sunday afternoon.
“On arrival on the scene a body was found floating 30 meters off shore, face down in the water,” says NSRI Spokesperson, Craig Lambinon.
Lambinon explains that a Metro Paramedic waded into the water to recover the body. This comes after the boy allegedly went swimming beyond the tidal pool where he encountered some difficulty.
“When the body was brought to shore CPR was initiated, but after all efforts to resuscitate the boy were exhausted, he was declared dead on scene,” says Lambinon.
The boy is from Khayelitsha and he had been on the beach with his brother and two friends.
