As part of its commitment to reduce water losses, the City of Cape Town has embarked on a water savings at almost a thousand schools in the Western Cape.
“We are engaged with the Department of Education in the Western Cape in a campaign of going to schools and assess if there’s any water wastage,” says the Chairperson of Utility Services Portfolio Committee Clive Justus.
Justus says once they identify that water is being wasted they then make recommendation and call plumbers to fix the damage.
“We also encourage care-takers on how to do the superficial changing of leak taps,” Justus.
At the rest of the 300 schools, trained caretakers will repair leaks at the expense of Education Department.
