Policeman and a suspect arrested

A police constable was arrested in connection with defeating the ends of justice at a house in Heideveld on Friday evening.

“The 23 year old, who was stationed at Manenberg Police station, allegedly gave official 16 rounds of ammunition to a man who was sought by police in several cases,” says Police spokesperson Inspector Bernadine Steyn.

Steyn adds that the other suspect, a 24-year-old, who allegedly received the ammunition from the Constable, was arrested on Thursday at a house in Ocean View.

“The constable and the suspect will appear in the Athlone Magistrate’s court on Monday,” says Steyn

The suspect faces charges of murder, attempted murder and armed robbery.
