A shooting incident occurred last night in Swan road, Bishop Lavis, killing a 29-year-old man and wounding a 20-year-old.
It is alleged that a silver VW Polo, with three male occupants parked next to the road when a silver Toyota Run X with two male occupants stopped nearby.
“The driver, Absolon Bezuidenhout sustained bullet wounds to the head and chest, he passed away on the scene,” says police spokesperson, Inspector Bernadine Steyn.
She added that his 27-year-old passenger seated in the front seat of the vehicle received no visible injuries, while the other passenger seated in the back of the vehicle sustained a graze wound to the buttocks.
“All three victims are from the area of Bishop Lavis. The two suspects fled the scene in the Toyota and are still at large,” says Steyn.
Steyn added that a case of murder and attempted murder has been opened.
“Our investigators have indicated that the motive for the shooting might be gang related, but all possibilities will be investigated,” says Steyn.
