Regarding the arrest of Cape Town Mayor Helen Zille, the ANC says that the law must take its course, adding that the ruling party is confident in the South African Police Services (SAPS) ability to perform their duties in difficult circumstances.
“The ANC is of the view that the law must take its course with respect to the arrest and charging of Mayor Zille,” says ANC Provincial Spokesperson Garth Strachan.
He goes on to say that they think there is a fine dividing line between working with communities to build support for the SAPS, fighting crime and vigilantism.
“Mayor Zille is standing on the wrong side of that line. We urge her to work with the SAPS and the communitie organisations,” says Strachan.
