Boat caught on reef rescued by unidentified fisherman

During Sunday morning, an NSRI Gordon’s Bay rescue team returned to the scene of the previous evenings rescue operation near Harbour Island, but found no sign of the boat that was perched high and dry on a reef the night before (Saturday).

“On Sunday when the NSRI found no sign of the boat, NSRI Gordon’s Bay Deputy Station Chief Commander, Stuart Burgess contacted the owner of the boat to ask him of the boats fate, presuming that the boat had broken up and sunk during the night,” says NSRI spokesperson, Craig Lambinon.

The owner of the boat (Mr Houndsome) says that he too had returned the next day expecting to spend the rest of the day trying to get his boat off the rocks, but to his surprise and astonishment he found his boat moored safely in Gordon’s Bay harbour.

“He found an unidentified local fisherman with his boat who says that he had been fishing in the early morning from nearby rocks and noticed a man on the boat stealing what valuables and equipment were left on-board,” says Lambinon.

Mr Houndsome gave the fisherman a substantial reward, but the fisherman left before he could get any further details.

“All the valuables and equipment that were left behind after the initial rescue operation have now been removed by Mr Houndsome,” says Lambinon.
