Springbok legend Morne Du Plessis has called on the national team to light up people’s hearts with Green and Gold and write a new chapter in South Africa’s Rugby History.

Speaking at the official jersey handover ceremony, at the teams hotel in Paris, Du Plessis said that the Springboks have the potential to do very well in the Rugby world cup.

“The year 1995, when South Africa won the Webb Ellis trophy is in our history. We won the title and earned world respect for that. It is now time to tell a new story.

Let’s go out there and write a new chapter. But, like any book or piece of art, we must do it step by step and focus on one game at a time,” said Du Plessis

Du Plessis is in France for the Rugby World Cup. He is one of the games legends that opened the tournament on Friday at Stade de France. He is a greatly respected Springbok captain and was team manager when South Africa won the Rugby World cup in 1995.

Du Plessis said it is an honour and made his trip even more worthwhile when he accepted to present the new jerseys to the team.

“I have presented jerseys to the team before, but this one is particularly special because we are on foreign soil, and it is at the Rugby World Cup,” adds Du Plessis.
