Roads around the Newlands Cricket Oval will be closed for the Cape Town period of the Twenty20 Cricket tournament which starts on Wednesday, September 12.
“Certain roads will be closed from Wednesday, September 12 until Sunday, September 16. These roads will be closed for the Super 8’s matches on September 20 and the semi-final on September 22,” says spokesperson for the City’s Transport Department Ester Moag.
The following roads will be closed from 9am until 11pm on the days of the tournament:
· Campground Road at the intersection of Main and Protea Roads
· Palmyra and Keurboom Roads
· Mariendahl Avenue at Palmyra Road
· Mona Crescent at Palmyra Road
· Kelvin Road at the corner of Kelvin Grove Club’s bowling greens
· Sport Pienaar Road at Boundary Road traffic circle
· Letterstedt Road at Mill Street.
“Notice boards will clearly indicate the closing and opening times, which may be altered at the last minute,” says Moag.
Secure park and ride facilities will be available at the Observatory, Rosebank, Retreat, Plumstead and Kenilworth stations.
