DA lashes out at Eskom

The Democratic Alliance has requested Eskom appear before a portfolio committee this follows the recent power outages which occurred due to load shedding.

The party wants Eskom to establish an early warning unit which can detect risk of power failures at an early stage so the relevant information can be spread to the public.

Eskom has said that the power outages was caused due to unpreventable circumstances and the DA disagrees saying that their explanation is unsatisfactory.

"The Democratic Alliance has the view that the current explanation of Eskom does not resolve the Minister of Minerals and Energy as well as the board of Eskom from their responsibility with regards to the current mess of the provision of electricity," says DA spokesperson of minerals and energy Advocate Hendrik Schmidt.
