Proudly Manenberg takes to the streets

Proudly Manenberg is taking to the streets on Wednesday from 10am until 12pm from the De Downs traffic circle to the rent office in protest of the constant delay in the reopening of the Manenberg rent office.

The rent office has been closed since February this year and residents have been forced to go to the Heideveld rent office.

Chairperson of Proudly Manenberg, Mario Wanza says that they have held several meetings with the City of Cape Town for the rent office to be reopened but that this had been unsuccessful.

“The march being planned by Proudly Manenberg is called due to the failure of the City of Cape Town to render a service to our community,” says Wanza.

He says at a meeting held in September with Cape Town Mayor Helen Zille, the City promised Manenberg residents that the rent office would be reopened by October the 1st.

“The closure of the rent office has left residence with ineffective service delivery in their area,” says Wanza.
