An investigation of armed robbery is being conducted by police after residents were robbed in front of their home in Parklands Tableview late yesterday afternoon.
Two women aged 39 and 40 year olds and a 17 year old boy were stopped in front of their house after leaving a bank at Bayside Mall.
“They were approached by two armed men, who (were driving) a white Toyota Corolla. One approached the passenger’s side and the other the drivers side,” says the police's Captain Elliot Sinyangana.
Sinyangana adds that the suspect on the passenger's side instructed the passenger to hand over her wallet and while she was still in shock, he assaulted her with a firearm. In the midst of this a gun shot was fired injuring the driver in the leg.
“In the wallet there was cash to the value of R20 000. (The robbers) fled the scene in a white Toyota Corolla which was recovered around the corner from where the incident occured.
”We are investigating an armed robbery and also an attempted murder case,” says Sinyangana.
Any one with information who can assist with information to call Detective Inspector Kenneth Lombard of Table View SAPS at (021) 521 3308 or Crime Stop at 08600 10111.
